Is your depression situational? If so, there are a few things that you can do to try and snap out of it. There are ways to get better. The first thing to do is to remember that things will get better. Situational depression is just that ?situational. As the situation improves, so will your mood. Time heals all wounds, so if you are upset because of a breakup, or because you just lost your job then don't worry. It will get better.
However, that does not mean that therapy would not help. That is an option to strongly consider. A therapist would allow you to work out any issues that might have arisen from the cause of the depression. A good therapist would be able to help you to move past the issues. This could be an important part of the healing process.
Another way to move past this would be to get involved in activities, either old ones that you had discontinued or new ones. This is especially true when dealing with a breakup, because it would allow you to meet new people to socialize with. By getting out of the house and doing things, you leave yourself with less time to focus on the situation, and force yourself to be more engaged. This will help you to move on, and bring you back to the level that you should be at.
